Once again the Old Scholars were able to hold their Reunion at The Heritage School, by courtesy of the new Chief Executive, Mrs Helen Hewitt. Between 50 and 60 people came. The day started wet and very windy so we were glad of the coffee and biscuits in the Staff Room (known as Llangattock to most of you). There was a chance to chat and catch up on what we had all been up to since we had met last year and an opportunity to meet Mrs Hewitt. Two "new" old scholars joined us this year. Do any of you remember Marion Herbert, nee Samson, or Stephen Smedmore? It was a pleasant surprise to see Alison Lapper again. The Rev. John Maskell, priest in charge at Chailey-on-the-Green, took our Thanksgiving Service again this year. Our hymns were:- God Is Working His Purpose Out; The Guild Psalm (Psalm.16); This Is The Day; Breathe On Me Breath Of God; God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again, and Mr Clifford Dann played us out to The Master Shipwright. Marion Herbert helped by Mrs Verena Hanbury then laid the commemorative wreath to our Founder, Dame Grace Kimmins, at her memorial plaque just outside the Chapel. We then made our way to the 16+ Room for our luncheon served by the wonderful Volunteers from The Friends of Chailey plus some of our Secretary's young relations. The lunch was delicious and we were able to have seconds if we had room! Our AGM followed luncheon. The present Committee were all, except Dennis Domm, willing to stand again and were duly re-elected. Richard Clarke had expressed a willingness to come on to the Committee and he was elected too. When all the business of the AGM had been concluded we then held a raffle and a quiz, which had been handed out before lunch. There were two winners for the quiz, so they shared the prize, which they both donated to our funds, for which I thanked them. After delicious cakes and tea/coffee we were able chat some more with friends before departing for another year. Next year's Reunion Day will be Saturday, 9th May, 10.15am at the Heritage. We hope you will be able to come and join us to share in a very happy occasion. Janet Wilkins, Chairman.
