Outing to Harbour Park and Look and Sea Centre David Jones again kindly arranged this outing, having organized the previous outing to Harbour Park in 2009, so we all met for lunch at 12 noon at the Galley Restaurant, Harbour Park, courtesy of the owner, Mr Gary Smart. Seven Old Scholars and family members, including my daughter and grand-daughter, and David's 2 nephews, were joined by Mrs Ann Smee, her husband Bill and friends. Mrs Smee is Chairman of Arun District Council and was delighted to meet and share lunch with us. Three of our members who had booked to come were unable to attend on the day. After lunch we went our own ways, some to enjoy rides on the Harbour Park amusements (the dodgems and water-slide were particular favourites), some to enjoy the seaside promenade and beach, whilst others walked alongside the river Arun and Marina to the Look and Sea Centre. This is a new exciting centre overlooking the river. The Look and Sea Centre is disabled friendly, has a restaurant on the ground floor, and a lift which goes up to a viewing gallery, affording stunning views of the river mouth, harbour and the sea beyond. There is an exhibition comprising the history of Littlehampton port through the ages, which was very interesting. Littlehampton was bustling on this day as the sun shone warmly on crowded beaches and promenade. The little train wended its way carefully along the prom. The Town was also celebrating its Arts and Music Festival. After enjoying some of these many delights and an ice cream, we returned home, having enjoyed a lovely day at the seaside.
