Sad News - Ted Hartwell
It is with the deepest regret that we must inform you that Ted died on the 16th of
November, just short of his 91st birthday. Ted was an old scholar who never went to
Chailey yet who made a tremendous contribution to the OSA, particularly by allowing
us to include his Tidemills video on the website and for the work he did compiling the
OSA video. He served on the Committee as our archivist, a real gentleman.
Ted’s funeral service was held on 14th December 2021 at Worth Crematorium, near
Three Bridges, Crawley. It was attended by Richard, our Treasurer, representing the
Old Scholars Association, to the appreciation of Kevin, Ted’s nephew. Unfortunately,
Janet, our chairman, was unable to attend due to a prior commitment. Richard also
met Phil Rhodes Creative Producer of the Tide Mills Project to which Ted contributed
the interview mentioned below. The Project will come to fruition in 2022.
